Medical supply company Medline Industries is recalling some 1.5 million portable adult bed rails across the U.S. and Canada, Thursday, May 30, 2024, following two reports of entrapment deaths associated with the products. Summary:

Medline Industries, LP, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling the Bed Assist Bar. Users of the product can become entrapped between the Bed Assist Bar and the Mattress, which can lead to injury or death by asphyxia. Medline is aware of two deaths occurring in July 2019 and November 2023 in the United States Market.  SKUs listed have been discontinued and no longer distributed in the United States:  MDS6800BA, MDS6800BAH, and MDS6800BAHW1.

Please stop using the Bed Assist Bar and return it to Costco for a full refund
