Solar Smart Bird Feeder

The scoop

Spotted this Solar Smart Bird Feeder with a built-in 1080p HD WiFi camera on clearance at Costco, and it’s definitely turning heads for those of us who want to spy on our feathered backyard visitors in crisp high definition.

This is a FSC-certified wooden bird feeder that doubles as a tech gadget, streaming live video of birds visiting your yard straight to your phone via WiFi. The solar panel keeps it powered up without running extension cords across your lawn, and the 1080p camera quality means you’ll actually be able to identify which species are stopping by for lunch.

Bird feeder cameras typically run anywhere from $150 to $300 depending on video quality and features, so finding one on clearance could mean solid savings if you’ve been eyeing this category. The FSC-certified wood construction suggests this isn’t a budget-quality feeder, and the solar power feature means no battery swapping every few weeks. Whether this particular clearance price represents a compelling deal depends on what you’d pay elsewhere for similar WiFi-enabled feeders with HD video.

The clearance timing makes sense—we’re in the middle of winter when bird feeding is actually at its peak, but retailers often clear out seasonal outdoor items in late January to make room for spring inventory. This could be a discontinued model or simply an item that didn’t sell as expected during the holiday gift-giving season. Either way, don’t expect this to stick around long if bird watching enthusiasts catch wind of it.

Bottom line: If you’ve been wanting to level up your backyard bird watching game with technology, this solar-powered smart feeder could be your clearance jackpot. Anyone out there already using a camera feeder—is it as addictive as it sounds?
