Grocery and gas prices are extremely high right now due to several factors.

However, Costco has managed to keep its prices relatively stable for shoppers, and now the wholesaler is even dropping prices on select Kirkland Signature products.

New members are flocking to the shelves and the gas pump to take advantage of the low prices, so be sure to join the crowd with these lower-priced items.

Costco is watching competitors raise prices on a variety of items. Instead of following the masses, Costco is actually dropping prices on some of its items.

CEO Ron Vachris said during May’s earnings call, “Against the backdrop of ongoing macro uncertainty, our focus is providing quality goods and services at the lowest possible price continues to resonate strongly with our members.”

The price cuts were put into effect during the company’s third quarter, which ended in early June.

Gary Millerchip, Costco’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, added, “Our goal is to be the first to lower prices where we see opportunities to do so.”

Kirkland Signature Price Cuts

Millerchip then shared the handful of Kirkland Signature items that are now being sold at lower prices:

  • Crispy Wings, $16.99 to $14.99
  • Milk Chocolate Almonds, $19.99 to $18.99
  • Golf Balls, $32.99 to $29.99
  • King-size Sheets, $89.99 to $79.99

While he didn’t specifically call out any other items, Millerchip did report deflation in prices for certain produce, eggs, and dairy products.

Beyond food prices, Millerchip says the company’s “buyers are working hard to mitigate the impact of cost increases.” He added, “we felt it was important to continue to deliver more value for our members,” and that “we tend to be our own biggest competitor.”

It is important to note that USA Today found that some of the products listed on Costco’s website do not reflect the lower prices, and some locations have yet to lower the prices, too.

The website does note that “Warehouse pricing may vary.”

New Kirkland Items

Along with several price decreases on popular Kirkland Signature items, Costco is also rolling out new products.

The products hit the shelves last quarter, according to Millerchip, and will offer “savings of at least 15% to 20% of the national brand equivalent with equal or better quality.”

The new items include a Kirkland Signature branded energy drink, ultra-filtered milk, sea salt popcorn, and oven-roasted chicken dog food.

Kirkland Signature items undergo an intense process before getting approved by the CEO to head to stores, and provide a lower-cost yet high-quality item to shoppers. Sometimes, the items are even better than popular name brands.

Other Low Prices at Costco

One of the more coveted lower-priced items at Costco right now is gas.

The main reason gas has become such a commodity in recent months is the conflict with Iran and skyrocketing gas prices. However, Costco has been able to offer cheaper fuel than many of its competitors, providing members with gas that is up to 50 cents a gallon cheaper than nearby stations.

During the May earnings call, Costco CEO Ron Vachris shared that the Iran war has had a “significant impact on product supply and gas prices.” As a result, gas is flying out of the pumps, with some locations getting daily deliveries to keep up with demand.

If you want another Costco staple that doesn’t raise its prices, head over to the food court and indulge in the $1.50 hot dog combo meal. The iconic hot dog and soda combo just got a refresh, adding a hot dog and water option for those who may not prefer soda.

The best part? The price isn’t getting higher anytime soon.

Vachris confirmed this earlier in the year, stating that “as long as I’m around,” the $1.50 price would not change.
