Our go-to technique for opening really tough jars is running the lid under very hot water for a minute. That should expand the metal in the lid just enough to get it to twist off a bit easier.
Have to agree with others here. These jars are impossible! My first jar eventually opened after hot water and tapping, thought it was a fluke. But second jar worse! Love the mango, HATE the jar
We tried everything, too. Really difficult but the my husband used the can opener that is use to puncture the top of the can to make a pouring hole . Use the sharp end and slide it up inside the lid then pop it out a little and then you can unscrew the lid. I hope this helps.
I Put my butter knife under at the marker (little white diamond) like you said and rotated 90 deg. After a few tries the seal became undone enough to twist off with ease.
My solution. I’ve tired all normal methods including strap wrenches with no success. Even with the strap wrenches the lid would just turn without coming off. What works for me it to poke a tiny hole in the lid to release the vacuum and the lid will screw off easily. I use a quick jab with a pointed knife to make the hole. With the large lid there is simply too much “pressure” on the lid to work mormaly.
Purchased mangos at Costco! PLEASE CHANGE PACKAGING to more narrow cap & jar. I’m 55 and pretty strong and could not get jar opened with either of my gizmos. My husband had a hard time. I couldn’t enjoy them til he got back in town. They are very good tasting but not worth the aggravation. Plus the round short bottle hard to get a grip with other hand.
Don’t bother opening them, just toss these nasty excuses for fruit in the trash or get a refund, absolutely terrible. I about pulled a muscle trying to open them too.
Can’t open the jar. My boyfriend is a body builder and he couldn’t get it either. We had to look online for options which was to break the seal then it opens up. After the nightmare to get it open the taste was terrible. I thought it would taste like mango but it had an unrecognizable flavor and weird consistency. I DON’T recommend. I won’t get it again.
Loved them! I made 2 mango walnut cakes with cream cheese coconut frosting for the holidays. So easy to use for baking. If you want fruit salad then I recommend fresh. The jar opened with no trouble after I turned it upside down in a bowl of boiling water and let it soak for a few minutes (running it under hot water isn’t sufficient to allow for expansion)then with a dishtowel covering the bottom i gave it a couple of sharp blows with the palm of my hand. My hands are small, I’m 72 years old and live alone. I would starve to death if I didn’t have a few tricks for opening difficult packaging.

I bought these mangoes at my Costco in Seattle and they are terrible. I couldn’t wait to dive into them and was very disappointed. They don’t taste like mango at all but have a chemical taste. I took some to my coworkers and they agreed without any prompting from me. Now I have this huge jar to finish, never again.
These are worthless. They have no flavor. Seems like the mango was completely washed out. A shame. The big jar has been sitting in the fridge and we mango lovers can’t bring ourself to eating any. The Costco in the DC – Maryland area which delivered via Instacart does not answer the phone. I couldn’t reject using the instacart app either so this is a complete dud in every respect.
please change location to the san dimas, california store
When will Del DESTINO SLICED MANGO 60 OZ BE AVAILABLE AT Roseville ca location

Here are a few other methods you may not have tried yet: https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/how-to-open-a-jar/
I never have difficulty opening jars but this lid just turns and turns and turns and never opens! Costco, what do I do?
Use a bottle opener to pop it open

there’s a marker on the lid. Insert a butter knife on that market and twist the knife 90 degree and the lid will come right off

Available at Costo 1700 S 300 W Salt Lake City, UT but price is $7.99 and I am unable to open the jar. Very tight.
The mark on the lid and the butter knife – work smarter not harder! I should have read all the comments!

We ran the lid under hot water, then poked a hole in the top of the lid with scissors. This allowed the lid to twist straight off.
To open this Jar, flip it and bang it hard few times on the glass bottom and then it will be easy to open.
Just ran a butter knife under the lid gently and I heard the seal break. Really low noise though. Opened easily after that.
When will these mangoes become available in store again?
Don’t even bother to open it. This mangos taste horrible. I am bring it back to the store to get my refund.

The trick is to pry up the large lid with bottle opener which releases the vacuum as air moves inside jar.
