If you love the idea of a slow-cooked German pot roast but don’t have the hours to spare, this find is worth a look. We spotted A La Carte Beef Sauerbraten on the shelf and it’s exactly the kind of comfort food shortcut Costco members love.
This is a traditional German-style pot roast made from USDA Choice beef and traditional spices, slow-cooked until tender according to the box. It’s a ready-to-eat entree that promises restaurant-style flavor without the hours of braising, and it’s ready in just 6 to 7 minutes in the microwave.
For a fully cooked, heat-and-eat beef dish, this looks like a solid option for busy weeknights when you want something heartier than a frozen pizza but don’t have time to actually braise a roast. The USDA Choice beef designation is a nice touch that suggests decent quality cuts went into this.
Bottom Line: If you’re into German comfort food and want a quick, no-fuss dinner solution, A La Carte Beef Sauerbraten looks like a convenient way to get that slow-cooked flavor without the wait.

I just purchased this product and found it very tasty and filling. It was tender and flavorful, as I was hoping. My only recommendation is that it does NOT cook in 6-7 minutes in the microwave. After 8.5 minutes it was still frozen in the middle. I cut it into sections and cooked for another 10 minutes. The packaging does not state that it should be cooked from a thawed or frozen state – inferring it shoud be frozen – but it takes at least 20 minutes to heat through.
