Costco shoppers, get ready, as the first Albany, New York, location has officially announced an opening date.
Prospective members can now lock in a membership or even apply for a job at the wholesaler months before the first Albany region Costco location opens.
Opening Date Set
Costco has officially set an opening date for the first Albany region location.
Previously, the company expected to open the warehouse in August, but now we have confirmation and an exact date: August 6th, 2026. The company’s website now displays the official opening date.
Along with Costco, Crossgates Mall announced the news, advertising a kiosk to learn more about the new location. Memberships are now available for the location.
However, construction is still ongoing for the 163,000-square-foot warehouse. The location also features 18 gas pumps. Costco is currently hiring workers for the Albany location, expecting around 150 people to work there.
Proposed hours for the location are 10 am to 8 pm on weekdays, 10 am to 6:30 pm on Saturdays, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
Kiosk in Crossgates Mall
Along with Costco announcing the news, Crossgates also got in on the action.
The mall has shared that people who are interested in signing up for a membership can visit a kiosk in the mall. The temporary Recruitment & Membership kiosk is located near the second-floor entrance to Macy’s.
Costco employees are there to explain how a membership works, sign up new members, and even provide applications for positions within the warehouse. It’s a quick and easy way to get ahead of the crowd on opening day.
Construction
Construction on the first Albany Region Costco location started in March 2025 after five years of planning and legal battles.
Years before the groundbreaking ceremony, Pyramid acquired homes and parcels of land in the site’s surrounding area, where the next New York Costco is located.
The company started the buying process all the way back in the 1990s for a possible mall expansion. However, that never took place, and instead, Costco members will be delighted to have another Costco location to shop and dine in the food court.
