i encourage Costco buying manager to try this product ( dried gourmet mix mushrooms). They are chewy, tough, tasteless. After giving them a try 3 different times, I just threw the rest away. Horrible product.
I luv’d these mushrooms and am bummed I could only find them once. I am vegetarian and think that firmer & chewier mushrooms give a meat-like texture to chili, soups, etc.
I AM STILL WISHING THEY COME BACK TO THE BOSTON AREA. I HAVE RUN OUT AND DON’T WANT TO GET THEM FROM AMAZON. I LIKE TO LOOK AND CHOOSE MY PACKAGE. I GUESS I WILL NEED TO STOCK UP NEXT TIME.
THEY ARE AMAZING IN A LAST MINUTE IDEA. I PUT THEM IN EVERYTHING. WHEN I OWNED A RESTAURANT, I HAD THEM AT THE READY ALL THE TIME. 🙂
I agree with the negative comments. I have followed the directions on the label to a tee and still these are hard and horrible. I’ve tried several ways to re-hydrate and they are just terrible.
You folks are doing it wrong. Those mushrooms are awesome. I toss them in the pressure cooker with the rice or early when I’m cooking on the stove. They are supposed to be a little chewy like the delicious bits of fungus that they are. What are you expecting that the plump up to be the same as fresh mushrooms?
I love these mushrooms for a variety of dishes I make. They can be reconstituted to have pieces in a mushroom soup. They can be ground to add a tasty base to stroganoff without the saltiness of bouillon. If expectations are for them to be creamy like fresh mushrooms, you will be disappointed as noted above. I hope Costco will begin carry them again soon.
My family and I enjoy these mushrooms. I rehydrate them and then fry them with onions and garlic they are the first dish to disappear. I hope Costco puts them on the shelves again.
Years ago I bought this product at a Montreal Costco. Loved it! Loved the price too. I never had problems rehydrating the mushrooms using boiling water and letting them soak for 30 minutes. I don’t use a soup bowl for this task as the water turns lukewarm too soon. I prefer a deep glass jar or huge glass measuring cup. I noticed that sometimes one of the four types of mushrooms is still a bit hard after soaking but since they all go in the slow cooker, everything turns out perfect. I just wish that product would come back on Costco’s shelve in Montreal.
So very disappointed. I used to buy a dried mushroom product from Tones but they disappeared so I was very pleased to see these at Costco. I’ve tried three times, following the directions exactly, and they turn out chewy. Will take them back to Costco the next time I go.
I bought the dried wild mushroom mix at Cosco in Clearwater, FL for less than $10.00.
dehydrated as suggested. took longer and still came out tough but tasty. i’ll use my instapot
next time. sure it will be more tender.

I really love the wild mushroom. They are so tasty. I hope it will be available again at costco abbotsford canada. I can’t wait to buy it again.
These mushrooms are great. If you are having problems it’s probably because you are not comparing them properly.
