A stack of Costco Food Court Churros

If you spend any time scrolling through Costco fan groups and Insta, you know the community has opinions. Strong ones. Here’s what’s generating the most chatter right now.

The Rotisserie Chicken Lawsuits (Yes, Plural)

The $4.99 rotisserie chicken is practically sacred. So when not one but two class-action lawsuits dropped this year, the internet had thoughts.

The first lawsuit alleges Costco falsely markets its Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken as “no preservatives,” even though the ingredient list contains sodium phosphate and carrageenan. Costco has since removed the “No Preservatives” language from warehouse signage. A second lawsuit followed in February, claiming the chicken may carry a salmonella risk linked to Costco’s processing plant in Nebraska.

The Reddit reaction? Mostly people worried about one thing: the price. “Win or lose, the rest of us consumers will end up paying more while greedy lawyers and their ‘clients’ get rich. This is why we can’t have nice things,” wrote one Redditor. Another was even blunter: “That chicken is five bucks. I don’t care.”

The Bakery Is on a Heater Right Now

The Brownie Walnut Pie – a massive chocolate brownie with a buttery graham cracker crust, chocolate ganache, and chopped walnuts – had one Reddit user calling it the best thing they’d ever eaten from the Costco bakery. Then came the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar Cake, described by members as “dangerously good.” And the beignets – a limited-edition fall release that Costco brought back permanently in 2026 in both chocolate-hazelnut and caramel-filled versions.

If you haven’t been to the bakery section lately, go!

Costco Is Requiring Memberships at the Food Court

Costco is rolling out membership-card scanners at food courts across the U.S., making the $1.50 hot dog exclusive to members. It’s been the norm in California for a while, and a few other locations have been starting to enforce the members-only ordering, but it’s now going nationwide. The reaction is mixed – some members think it’s completely fair, others feel bad for non-members who used the food court as their one affordable treat.

The silver lining: executive members can now earn rewards on food court purchases, just like on groceries.

Kirkland Signature Just Entered the Energy Drink Wars

This one is brand new and the internet is moving fast on it. Costco’s new Kirkland Signature Sparkling Energy Drinks come in a 24-count variety pack of three flavors – Tropical, Orange, and Peach – for $16.99. That works out to about 70 cents a can. Each 12-ounce can has 200mg of caffeine, zero sugar, and just 10 calories – putting it squarely in Celsius territory at roughly half the price. Celsius stock actually dropped 7% the day Costco announced the new drinks. Peach is getting the early edge as the fan favorite flavor.

These are very new – if you don’t see them yet, keep checking.

The Chipotle Chicken Is Becoming a Permanent Fixture

Costco’s Flame Seared Chargrilled Chipotle Chicken – a 2-pound bag of fully cooked, diced, chipotle-seasoned chicken for $11.99 – has been earning rave reviews since it started popping up in deli sections earlier this year. Members quickly figured out it’s the same chicken from the fan-favorite Street Taco Kit, just sold separately. Reddit reactions ranged from “almost indistinguishable from Chipotle” to “I need to buy a six-month supply.”

This one is showing up in more and more locations on a regular basis, and based on the response, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere. Find it in the prepared foods section near the meal kits.

The Food Court Has a New Sundae – and the Churro Drama Is Real

Costco’s new $2.99 Caramel Churro Sundae features vanilla, chocolate, or swirl soft-serve ice cream drizzled with salted caramel and topped with mini churro bites – and it’s replacing the mint chocolate chip sundae that was out for St. Patrick’s Day. The problem? People don’t want churro-flavored ice cream. They want their churros back. A comment with nearly 5,000 likes on the @costcohotfinds Instagram post read, “We don’t want bits of churros. We want the whole churros back!” One parent put it best: “One of my kids is 6 and every few months he just yells, ‘Why did they get rid of the churros!?’ It was like his first great betrayal of life.”

The new sundae is rolling out now but not at every location yet – and at 850 calories, it’s commitment.
