Recall Summary
Costco has announced recalls on 5 food items, all tied to a recent lysteria outbreak by two of its suppliers.
These suppliers, along with the FDA, have issued a voluntary Class I Recall of the following items in an abundance of caution for consumer’s safety because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
