Does Costco Sell Batteries?

Standard vs AGM Batteries, Costco

Along with tires and tune-ups, Costco sells batteries for both Automotive and Recreational vehicles. The warehouse offers Interstate-brand batteries for boats, RVs, golf carts, motorcycles, ATVs, and lawnmowers

Their Automotive selection comes with either a Standard Flood Battery or an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Battery. The brand choices vary by location, but you can access your local Costco’s stock here.

Standard Flooded vs AGM Batteries

The main difference between the two batteries is the power they provide. A Standard Flooded battery is the most common battery. It’s perfect to start most vehicles, especially older models or smaller cars.

An AGM battery is best for more modern, power-hungry cars. If your vehicle comes with an AGM, or you find yourself replacing your battery often, check out Costco’s amazing selection of AGM batteries.

Which Battery is Right for You?

Having trouble figuring out which battery is the best option? Costco allows you to input your vehicle information to find the right fit. All you need to know is the year, make and model, engine type, and zip code and Costco will find the best battery near you.

Does Costco Install Car Batteries?

While Costco does offer more affordable prices on batteries than other automotive stores, they don’t install car batteries for you. This might seem strange since they change tires and perform other vehicle maintenance, but this is because Costco values low prices.

In order to keep those low prices, they have to cut out small services, such as battery installation, as that will raise the price of batteries. But thanks to this, you can save big on so many batteries.

Price Comparison

But just how much can you save with Costco’s battery selection? To compare, I put in my vehicle information. For a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, a battery with AGM technology, 60 Amp Hour, and 12 Voltage at Costco will cost me $182.99

A similar battery at AutoZone that has 61AP and 12VDC will cost $249.99. O’Reilly’s, another popular automotive retailer, has a similar battery as well for the price of $214.99

Clearly, Costco shines as an affordable car battery seller — and we have another reason to use our membership!

What is Costco’s Battery Warranty?

All Automotive batteries purchased at Costco come with a 36-month limited replacement warranty. And thankfully you don’t need the receipt for the battery to use the warranty. Costco can confirm the purchase using the battery serial number.

Can You Return Car Batteries?

Like other Costco products, their return policy is generous. If you purchased the wrong battery and need a different one, they allow returns.

To prevent the need for returns, ask Costco’s vehicle center, or check online here, to verify which batteries will fit your car before purchasing.
