Costco Fun Facts: Best and Worst Days to Shop
Did you know there is a “best” day and time to shop at Costco?
First, let’s start off with the worst: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are the busiest days at Costco. Avoid them if you don’t want to encounter long lines, crowded aisles, and packed parking lots.
Weekends are prime time for shopping because most of us finally break free from work week shackles! But here’s the kicker: Costco’s got shorter hours on the weekends, creating mega crowds jostling to get their shop on.
So if you find yourself asking yourself, “When should I shop at Costco?”
The answer: When it’s raining!
Rainy days scare off shoppers because, well, let’s face it: who wants to lug stuff in a downpour, right? But, if you’re spontaneous and don’t mind loading your groceries in the rain, this could be your golden ticket to a much less crowded Costco trip.
True story: we visited the Memphis Costco during a torrential downpour, complete with thunder and lighting, and when we dashed inside (completely soaked), the store was just about completely empty! It was eerily quiet. We couldn’t believe it…
However, if dancing between the raindrops isn’t your thing, you may also try to shop midweek, especially in the morning.
A consensus among Costco staff points to weekdays, particularly Tuesdays through Thursdays, as the least crowded.
Being an early bird could be advantageous, offering you the initial opportunity to snag the daily deals. Timing is crucial, as some deals (especially .97 clearance items!) are so irresistible that they might not even last until noon.
Shopping at Costco early in the morning ensures top-notch freshness of its products, especially fruits, vegetables, and meat.
You could also try getting there during the last 30 minutes before closing – but be sure to be swift and decisive, otherwise employees may give you a gentle push.
